December 2016 – Messe de Minuit pour Noël of Marc-Antoine Charpentier

The Brisbane Chamber Choir closed the year with three performances of the Messe de Minuit pour Noël by the French composer Marc-Antoine Charpentier, together with special guests.

August 2016 – Peter Sculthorpe in ‘A History of the Requiem’

In a continuation of a concert series exploring the requiem at St John’s Anglican Cathedral this year, the Brisbane Chamber Choir presented the stunning 2004 setting of the late Australian composer Peter Sculthorpe, together with invited guest artists Harry Wilson, the University of Queensland Chamber Singers, and Organist, Andrej Kouznetsov.

July 2016 – Francesco Cavalli in ‘A History of the Requiem’

As part of a series of choral concerts examining the history of the requiem at St John’s Anglican Cathedral this year, the Brisbane Chamber Choir offered the setting composed by the famous mid-17th century Italian opera composer, Francesco Cavalli.

May 2016 – Max Reger Centenary Concert

The Brisbane Chamber Choir commemorated the centenary of the death of the German composer Max Reger (b. 1873) performing selected works including extracts from his O Haupt voll Blut und Wunden (1904) and Der Mensch lebt und bestehet nur eine kleine Zeit (1916).

March 2016 – Handel’s Messiah

The Brisbane Chamber Choir with invited guest musicians gave a memorable packed-house performance of Handel’s sacred oratorio Messiah – the stunning work synonymous with Easter.

March 2016  – Nocturnes

The Brisbane Chamber Choir provided musical reflection in the Lenten season – part of the annual musical offerings of Nocturnes at St John’s Anglican Cathedral – performing works by Rakhmaninov, Rankine, Tallis, C.P.E. Bach, and Byrd.

November 2015 – Christmas Concert

The Brisbane Chamber Choir and The Adina String Quartet continued a musical partnership to deliver the Australian premiere of The Best-Beloved – four stunning motets on Jacobean texts – by American composer Chris DeBlasio (1959-1993).  You can read more about it here.

September 2015 – Tales of Three Cities

Under direction of Associate Conductor Kathryn Morton, the Brisbane Chamber Choir performed works by Australian composers Elena Kats-Chernin, Andrew Schultz, Stephen Leek, and Matthew Orlovich, in collaboration with the Sydney Chamber Choir and the Adelaide Chamber Singers.  You can read more about it here.

August 2015 – Kaleidoscope

In the Brisbane Chamber Choir’s second performance as part of the Brisbane Contemporary Church Music Festival, we joined with fellow Brisbane ensembles’ Canticum (Emily Cox), Fusion (Debra Shearer-Dirié), and The Schola of St Stephen’s Cathedral (Ralph Morton).  You can read more about it here.

July 2015 – Lux Aeterna

As a part of the Brisbane Contemporary Church Music Festival, the Brisbane Chamber Choir and the combined choirs of St. John’s Anglican Cathedral, under the guidance of conductor Heather Buchanan, performed Morten Lauridsen’s fabulous Lux Aeterna.  You can read more about it here.

August 2014 – Brisbane Contemporary Church Music Festival

The Brisbane Chamber Choir (in its capacity as the Cathedral Chamber Choir of St John’s Cathedral) was involved throughout the 2014 Brisbane Contemporary Church Music Festival in August 2014.  Learn more by visiting here.

October 2014 – Brisbane Chamber Choir’s Southern Sojourn (with Musica Viva)

May 2014 – A Celebration of CPE Bach

Celebrating the 300th anniversary of the birth of C.P.E. Bach, the Brisbane Chamber Choir (rehearsed by Director Graeme Morton) sang Die Auferstehung und Himmelfahrt Jesu (H.777), together with special guest soloists, in a concert conducted by Michael O’Loughlin.  You can find Limelight Magazine’s review of this performance here.

April 2014 – Richard Toensing’s Responsoria (Book II) – Australian Premiere

The Brisbane Chamber Choir gave the Australian premiere of the second book of Richard Toensing’s Responsoria (the second part of a three part set of Responses for Holy Week).  Written for six-part chorus, accompanied by piano, double bass, and metal percussion (glockenspiel, tubular bells, and tam-tam),  it comprised a stunning hour of music from a vast musical landscape.
